Did a private demo for a student the other day who wanted to better understand my working process and methods.  Below is a short video that shows how this painting unfolded.

Generally (but not always), when I paint flowers, I like to start with a transparent underpainting followed by developing the painting with opaque paints.

    Pat, as always, your paintings inspire me! I love watching the stages, the opaque layers underneath, and the details emerge. The little dabs of accent color add such dimension and character to each piece. Love this! :) Pat S
